Transcript: Fans Give NHL 10 a hat-trick
Transcripts Friday, October 9th, 2009And this year EA Sports promises NHL 10 will be the game to buy. The franchise is boasting improvements in areas of puck control, goaltender reaction time, fighting and the new “battle for the cup” mode. Nick Lees has been playing the NHL video game franchise since nineteen-ninety-three. He thinks this year’s edition is the best he’s ever seen.
I love the physics of the puck. I think they really improved the game-play, looks more simulation. A lot of the board play, the upgrades have been pretty fantastic. Aside from that, having the whole playoff mode, seven game series, that’s the biggest selling point with fans.
Lees believes NHL 10 is so good there might not be much room for improvements in the future.
They’re getting closer to perfection. I think that the board play has been in introduced. A lot more extra curricular stuff with the fans, which they’ve done this year. They’re getting closer. I don’t think there are any strong gains they need to make.
EA Sports has said to have concentrated extremely hard on game-play this year. With all the concentration on game-play, one would think the animations and graphics would have to suffer. Jason Price has been a die-hard fan since the Sega Genesis era. He wants to let fans know this year’s graphics haven’t taken a blow.
There’s a lot more animations for goalies, different saves they make. Same with players, lots of added little things. Post whistle scrums and stuff like that.
EA Sports have been notorious for listening to their fans wants and needs by taking internet surveys and looking through fan message boards. Lee’s appreciates the fact this company builds around the fans wants.
They listen to the fans. They know what they want. They want a simulation game. They want to see how everything plays out. It has a good playoff feel which is exactly what the fans want so.
NHL 10 has only been released for a few weeks but is already getting rave reviews from critics and fans alike. Only time will tell if this game becomes an instant classic for the franchise or be laughed at by gamers worldwide. Dave Gauthier, STU Journalism.
