Flood Watch 2010

The Saint John River has flooded its banks, spilling over and swallowing trees where they stand, after a week of rain and warm temperatures.

As snow melt makes its way from northern New Brunswick, the river swells, making its path unpredictable. In recent years, the heavy snow fall has led to near-record breaking floods and caused damage along the river banks.

While there have been no record breaking floods this year, the Saint John River has nonetheless swelled past its banks. As the snow continues to melt, the river is creeping higher, coming closer to the roads running alongside it.

Photos from April 1 and 2 of the river flooding follow in the slide show below.
